Our High Performance Cloud VPS line (EU) runs on Contabo infrastructure, and this policy passes Contabo's own fair-usage terms through to you. Incoming traffic is unlimited and unmetered; outgoing traffic is unlimited too, subject to fair usage based on average server workloads. The clauses below describe what that means in practice. (Our Local Pakistan and Low Cost USA lines have their own traffic terms and are not covered here.)
- Incoming traffic: unlimited and unmetered
- No cap, no metering, no extra charges — whatever your server receives is covered, full stop.
- Outgoing traffic: unlimited, within fair usage
- There is no transfer quota and no overage billing. Fair usage is measured against average server workloads across the platform: ordinary websites, applications, APIs, databases, mail for your own domains and a VPN for your own use sit comfortably inside it.
- Exceptionally high usage may be throttled
- To keep network performance fair for every customer, the platform reserves the right to throttle servers with exceptionally high or disruptive usage patterns. Your plan's port speed is a maximum, not a dedicated reservation. If your server is throttled we will tell you, and help you work out whether a dedicated-bandwidth arrangement fits your workload better.
- Workloads outside average server workloads
- Sustained platform-scale traffic — public download mirrors, video streaming to large audiences, torrent seeding for third parties, or commercial VPN and proxy exit services — is not an average server workload and needs a dedicated bandwidth commitment. Talk to us and we will price one.
- Blocked outright by the infrastructure provider
- The upstream provider immediately blocks servers used for spamming or pages associated with spamming, IRC daemons, the Tor service, or any script or program that impairs or disrupts the host system or excessively wears its hardware or bandwidth. Attacks, port scanning, phishing and botnets fall under our Acceptable Use Policy the same way. None of these is a fair-use conversation — they end the service.
- Shared hardware: fair CPU and disk too
- Your vCPU cores and NVMe storage run on shared hosts sized for average server workloads. Pinning every core at 100% around the clock or hammering the disk nonstop — the profile of cryptocurrency mining, which we do not permit on these plans — degrades neighbours and gets throttled just like network abuse.
- Backups: included, and still your responsibility
- Every High Performance EU plan includes the auto-backup add-on as a disaster-recovery net, not an archive. The infrastructure provider backs data up only as the service description states, and you remain obliged to back up your own data regularly — keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose, and snapshot before risky changes.
- Your server, your responsibility
- You hold root: keeping the OS patched, ports firewalled and credentials safe is on you. A compromised server that starts attacking others will be stopped first and discussed second.
- If usage becomes unreasonable, we talk to you first
- Outside the blocked-outright list, we contact you, describe the problem and give you a reasonable period to put it right — usually a configuration fix or a bigger plan solves it. Immediate suspension is reserved for abuse, unlawful use and platform-threatening load, where the infrastructure provider may also act without notice.
